Main data types
Pages may include administrative codes, village names, state, district, sub-district or local administrative unit, CD block, Gram Panchayat, households, population, area, facilities, land-use fields, nearest town and other village-level details where available.
Public data sources
Village information may be prepared from public datasets such as Census of India records, Census 2011 village fields, District Census Handbook data, Open Government Data and other publicly available government data sources.
District Census Handbook
The District Census Handbook, commonly shortened as DCHB, is published under the Registrar General of India, Government of India. Vill uses DCHB-style village fields for population, households, area, amenities, land-use and location context where available.
Postal references
Postal context may use available post office and PIN code datasets. A PIN code can cover more than one village or post office area, so address or delivery details should be verified with India Post before important use.
Bank service references
Bank ATM, Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) and Cash Recycler Machine (CRM) context may use Reserve Bank of India (RBI)-sourced public bank service data where available. These records belong to the listed banks and should not be treated as a live service guarantee.
Wikimedia and Wikidata context
Some state and district pages may include general reference context such as alternate names, coordinates, maps or images from Wikimedia, Wikidata or Wikipedia. This context supports the page but does not replace Census or official village records.
Data limitations
Some records may be old, incomplete, unavailable, duplicated, misspelled or different from current official records. Administrative boundaries, village names, district names, facilities, postal details and service availability may change over time.
Verification
Users should verify important details from official government records before using them for legal, administrative, financial, postal, land, revenue or official purposes.
Correction handling
When a correction request is received, Vill reviews the page URL, reported issue and supporting source before changing important records. We may leave a value unchanged if a reliable source is not available.
Data source questions
For questions about data sources, email contact@vill.co.in. To report a possible village data issue, email corrections@vill.co.in with the page URL and supporting source.
